The origins of TOP-Energy® can be found in doctoral theses and other research projects carried out at RWTH Aachen University around the turn of the millennium.

The simulation software is now located in the GFaI’s Graphic Engineering Systems (Graphing) research area. TOP-Energy® has been continuously developed in an independent working group since 2003. The team includes energy- and process engineers, modeling experts, and software developers. The main focus of development is to expand the range of functions and to make TOP-Energy® increasingly easy and intuitive to use.

Society for the Advancement of Applied Computer Science (GFaI)

The Society for the Advancement of Applied Computer Science (German: Gesellschaft zur Förderung angewandter Informatik e. V., GFaI for short) is a non-profit research institute in the field of applied computer science.

As a private, modern research institute, we have been supporting our partners in their innovations with industry-oriented and application-oriented research for over 30 years. The approximately 100 employees, mostly with engineering and mathematical/scientific backgrounds, develop not only graphical engineering systems such as TOP-Energy®, but also promising solutions in the areas of signal processing (acoustic camera), 3D data processing, and process automation.
